Cookie policy
Last updated: 17 August 2026
Short version: animabyte.com sets no cookies. No advertising cookies, no tracking cookies, no analytics cookies, no third-party cookies. That is also why you are not being interrupted by a cookie banner.
What a cookie is
A cookie is a small file a website stores on your device, usually to recognise you on your next visit. Norwegian and EU rules require your consent before a site may store or read anything on your device, unless it is strictly necessary to deliver something you asked for.
What we actually store
We want to be precise rather than simply claim "nothing", so here is the complete list of what animabyte.com puts in your browser:
animabyteTheme— stored in your browser's local storage. It records whether you chose the light or the dark version of this site, so your choice survives to your next visit. It is written only when you click the theme button yourself, contains nothing but the wordlightordark, is never sent to us or anyone else, and cannot identify you.
That is the entire list. Because this item exists purely to deliver a preference you explicitly asked for, it is treated as strictly necessary and does not require a consent banner.
Analytics without cookies
We measure how many people visit using GoatCounter, chosen specifically because it is cookieless. It records aggregate information such as the page visited, approximate country, and referring site. It does not set cookies, does not store an identifier on your device, and does not follow you across other websites.
How to remove it
Clearing your browsing data for this site removes the theme preference. The site will simply open in its default light theme next time. Nothing else is affected.
Videos
Videos on this site are served from our own server. We deliberately do not embed YouTube or TikTok players, because those load third-party code that stores data in your browser and sends your IP address to the provider before you have pressed anything. Links to our YouTube and TikTok channels are ordinary links — nothing loads until you choose to follow them, and then you are on their site under their rules.
If this changes
If we ever add something that genuinely requires consent — a third-party video player, an advertising pixel, or similar — we will ask you first with a proper consent choice, and update this page before doing so.
